Started to shoot Dad's longbow that has been collecting dust. Thought I'd try some cedar shafts he had laying around as well. I was shooting one that had been fletched with a 145gr fieldpoint. I'm getting a severe fishtail with the tail end kicking right until about 15yards when it straightens out. I'm right handed shooting a 55# @ 28". Granted my form and release need a lot of work but trying to get the right spined arrows. Am I under or over-spined?

It may not be the spline. Check your nocking point and your string alignment with your rest. Make sure you are getting a crisp / smooth release when you shoot.

Well I'm shooting off the shelf with just a leather pad. I don't think you can get true centershot with this bow either. I've started my knocking point about 1/8" above 90 degree. If the knocking point is off wouldn't that cause porpoising rather than side-to-side fishtailing? I'm new to the long bow so fill me in...

My spine was too stiff. I ended up getting a fp test kit that came with different weight points. I found the 190gr points gave me great flight. I've sinced then ordered some ACE 2 blade BH's. Hope to get my first longbow kill soon!
