Thanks to Mudbone my bow is shooting a lot better than it was, no 1 foot drop between 20 and 30 yards. Main problem was the nock was higher than the biscuit. I thought it was like that when I got the bow, but I can't be sure. Either way he used the bow square and got it all straightened up and I shot a few times and there is 1 or 2 inch of drop between 20 and 30 yards. All I really need to do is re-adjust the sight and start shooting again so I am good enough for season!

I'll be hunting the secret spot where I found the shed this spring... not far from that place where I saw turkeys on private land and called em in and shot one...

well I just shot in the backyard... tweaked the sight so it is sighted in to 20 yards (sight was a bit off when I left yesterday). My groups are not super tight yet but I got about a 3 or 4 inch group with one of the 3 arrows in the bulls eye.

Backed up to 30 yards and got a 8 to 12 inch drop again.

I dont know what the deal is with my bow but it's starting to piss me off a bit. I thought I just shot at 20 and 30 yesterday and got only a couple inches drop. Now it looks just like it did before.... if I dont get this figured out soon I am putting down the bow and getting a muzzleloader.

Sounds like your nock is sliding.

I think Mudbone and I got it figured out, the nock is in line with the rest, but the nock is too high on the string... gonna fix that soon and see if the problem is corrected. I think a peep sight and new kisser button are in order as well... I'm not saying Bowriter had it set up wrong, it's just different from what I feel comfortable shooting.... I am learning a bit about bows now, that's for sure

Depends if he has the strength to hold it back as to whether or not he should turn it up.

Have you tried turning it up catman?

I haven't, don't want to put the limbs off balance, and am comfortable with the draw weight at the moment. I'll get this nock situation fixed and see if that works first.

Nock position can change with shooting after initial setup. Take it to a pro shop .

It also depends on if he has shot enough to develop good form. if not, the the more speed, the more critical the bow. Speed is not often, in fact is seldom, the answer to shooting problems.

As for how the bow is/was setup, I probably had not shot that bow in a few years. The nock could easily have moved as well as everything else. As I said a year or so ago, the first thing it needs is a good tuning.

I handled a very similar problem for a guy in PA a few days ago. His bow would shoot perfect for the first 50 or so shots, then it got way off at 20. The problem was evident to me immediately, he was shooting too much. As soon as I made him quit shooting after 20 shots, he had no problems. He was just getting tired and his form was suffering. In fact, all he was doing was dropping his bow arm from fatique. It aint always the equipment.
