I've climbed up there but never fished. Pretty country for sure...

We were upstream from the bridge. It's around Fayetteville and we put in at Hinton.

Did you flow backwards on that NEW river?

I have always wanted to do that! Can WE get a driftboat down that thing?

That whole dang river flows backwards. We put in at the dam in Hinton and floated to Barksdale. There is a campgrounds on the river that we stayed in. There's no way you could do it in a drift boat. There's not even a ramp. There was a slide for white water rafts that we used. We also had to drag our raft over several shoals, some as long as 100 yards just because there wasn't enough water to float it. I also didn't see any skid marks on the rocks through the shoals.

When we were leaving and driving across the Interstate towards Beckley, I saw some folks floating there. It was raining and I couldn't see them real well, but I'm pretty sure they were in drift boats and not those big guide rafts with a center paddler. That section of the river is more narrow and the water is probably deeper through the shoals. I'll be talking to Paul here in the next week or two. He's fished the whole thing from one end of the state to the other. He'll have some ideas.

I'll give you a call later today.
