planted seeds at the end of february and it is starting to pay off now. I picked the first two Bhut Jolokia (ghost chili) and here is one of them -

I took them into work tonight (I work at a restaurant) and we cut into one of them. I got everyone in the kitchen to try a sliver of the pepper including myself. That was great! Yes they are definitely hotter than any habanero. Now to find a good use for them! One of these could make a big pot of chili overkill. They pack a good punch.

In India they use a paste made from the pepper to paint on fences so kids don't climb on them.

That's a nice looking pepper. One pepper should go a long way.

Be careful touching it and then having nature call. That will be a spicy experience, spoken from a personal one.

This thread is worthless unless you post a video of you taking a bite out of it! \:D

I just checked the garden last night. the ghost chili plants are now 4 ft tall and loaded with green peppers! gonna be too many to handle! But I will dry some and make an extract with some.

I grew them two years ago...and still have seasoning I made (probably will have that seasoning for a lifetime). Every person I seen eat a whole one threw up after the fact...those are tough peppers man! Crazy thing is the deer still ate the leafs off the plants???

I didn't know deer eat pepper plants... but the leaves don't contain the capsaicin (spice). It's only produced in the vein of the pepper and some of that ends up in the seeds too. So the leaves wouldn't burn a deer. But sprinkle some ground hot pepper on the leaves and they will think twice! I once used ground cayenne to keep a rabbit off my beet tops.
