I haven't done it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. For the most part, especially in West TN, it's pretty warm even in October and sometimes into November. It's a little cooler in the evenings, but it's not freezing. I don't think the temps would make that big a difference as long as it got plenty of sunlight.

There was one year we planted cherry tomatoes in the mid/late spring and we still had tomatoes growing til mid October! I finally just pulled it up because I thought it was time to pull it up... due to the oncoming muzzleloader season. \:\)
