What would happen if I put two 40lb trolling motors on the transom of a 14' Jon boat, lock one straight and use the other to steer?

dont think it would steer very well, now if you put 1 on the bow & 1 on the stern it would turn good no matter which motor you used, getting both motors pulling at the same rate would be the trick then

Bow mounted motors pulling are more precise for the steering.
But, I'm betting the other will work fine if you can keep the one motor locked in a straight position.
On more than one occassion during my graduate fisheries work I used two outboards(tiller steer) in the same manner.
