Nice! I love big grassies. Too bad we don't have many around here.

x100 I am still looking for a 40 pounder to catch not to mention a 60 pounder. Bet that thing fought too.

The fish probably mistook the crank for a blob of algae \:D

I caught a big carp (30lbs or so) and tried to lift him up by the gills and it tore his face off. I don't even like to touch the ones I shoot. But I wouldve loved to fight that big nasty sucker!

yeah grass carp are very powerful but also very delicate fish. I dont like to pick them up by the gills only, always have my other hand under the fish to hold it horizontally. Same with commons. You can't hang them by the gills on a scale either, or the hook will rip through the gill cover. Grass carp will lose a lot of scales if you let em flop on the ground too. I have pulled scales out even holding one by the tail in the water. They're just huge minnows... real easy to tear them up.

In Europe, that would be a real feat. Carp are revered there, much like our Largemouth Bass over here.

I'm not sure where in Europe they eat carp but I do know it's a prized fish and they go to extreme measures to take care of their fish and release them unharmed.

guess I don't know about people over in Czech or other european countries however I was thinking more along the lines of england, france, germany etc or maybe it's just the English carp anglers who travel to nearby countries to fish for them. I don't think many people in England eat carp because they are too concerned about careful handing and release of the fish.

Some of them even use this stuff! \:D

I read somewhere that carp is the most consumed fresh water fish in the world. Many countries even cultivate them.
