This is my honest opinion on Barnett crossbow. I am a former Barnett owner and was happy with mine. Barnett crossbows are 60/40. 60% of them sold turn out to be decent bows. 40% are garbage. I have sold these bows for coming on 3 years now. When Parker, Wicked Ridge, Excalibur, and Horton have problems out of their bows they will do everything in there power to keep the customer satisfied. On the other hand Barnett does everything in their power to ignore the customer, take forever to ship whatever parts you may need, and have the worst customer service of ANY bow or crossbow manufacturer on the market.. period. I am not trying to hurt anybody's feelings and if you are happy with your Barnett then keep on truckin' with it brotha! I just want to state the facts for somebody that is trying to get a new crossbow.

You can get an Excalibur Axiom kit with scope for under $434 which includes shipping. Best crossbow there is.

I guess i'm one of the "lucky" ones. I purchased a Barnett Quad 400 three years ago and except for the serving on the string unraveling have not had a bit of trouble out of it.
It shoots hard and accurate.
That said, if and when I ever get another Xbow it will be an Excaliber. Reason being, I like to do most of my bow maintenance myself and you can't change a string or cable on a compound Xbow without a high priced bow press.

This is the complete opposite of my experience with Barnett's customer service. I bought a quad 400 about 7 or 8 years ago. One of the limbs splintered two years ago while I was hunting. I called them when I got home and told them what happened. They had me mail the limbs back. About a week or so later I received a brand new set of limbs and cables. They didn't charge me a dime, and if my memory is correct, they even paid me back for shipping fees. They are top notch in my opinion. My quad 400 has been an excellent crossbow, and has laid down some nice deer .

I am sure there are better quality crossbow's out there but I am please with my Barnett Wildcat. Got is from Dicks Sporting Goods after the archery season for $329.00. Package deal, bow, scope, crank, bolts...

Has worked great so far.

My experiences with Barnetts customer service have always been excellent. I have a Quad 400 that i send back every other year or so for restringing. They have always taken good care of me, even upgrading my quad 400 at no extra charge one time. Turn around time is usually about a week or so, but i always call and ask if they are busy before i send it in. There are certain times of year when all xbow companies are busiest (usually right before hunting season) so you have to keep that in mind.

I also have a $900 TenPoint crossbow. They provide excellent service as well. Honestly, other than the TenPoint having a nicer camo finish on it, theres not a nickels worth of quality difference between that one and the Barnett which was $550 less expensive. Both shoot about the same velocity, make the same amount of noise, and both are equally as deadly accurate.

I only bought the TenPoint because i thought the more expensive crossbow would offer some refinements i didnt have on the less expensive Barnett. I was wrong.

I realize my experiences may be unique, and even the priciest of bows can have issues. But if money is tight there is nothing wrong with a Barnett that is substantially less expensive than the higher priced brands.
