Is this a big deal? I mean the whole nest and eggs and everything under the newly placed leaves. I turn it, and they're still there the next time. I'm sure they're feasting on all my table scraps. Is that any big deal or just nature's way?

Like you already guessed "just natures way" they probably do more good than harm as they help break it up.

It would seem to me that your pile isn't heating up enough if the ant colony wants to be there.
Certainly not telling you what to do but I quit with the table scraps a long time ago and only do manure and grass or leaves.

Actually you shouldn't have any cooked food in your compost. The ants, as previously said, would indicate a lack of true composting taking place. I wouldn't worry about killing them or anything, but if you keep turning over the pile, they'll eventually choose to relocate.

Put some peletized lime on the pile, water real good and then cover with black plastic for a week. They'll leave.
