That plant is in the mint family (it is actually Perilla, also know as beefsteak plant, or purple mint, or rattlesnake weed.
The plant actually has many medicinal and flavor enhancing uses (it used to be the main ingredient in sarsaparilla). Too bad deer don't eat it. That crap takes over my bottomland plot every year, and I've seen it take over even upland plots up along the KY border.

Ive got quite a bit of that in most of my plots. Worst thing ever is to let it go to seed like Ive done the past few years. This year I got on top of it though with more regular mowing of everything.

I agree, I have been trying to get stuff before it goes to seed. Another great use for eagle soybeans is it being rr. I can spray and knock out the stuff I don't want. It's helped a bunch the last few years. Mint sucks!

Yeah,mine went from maybe a foot taall,to almost 4 foot tall in just 2 weeks,not sure if it seeded out or not.Wonder if the clethmodim will have any effect when I spray for grasses,doubt it.

Ah yes I remember now.I have alot of it too. Best I can determine its beefsteak plant( Perilla frutescens) which is what BSK said there. That helps me with my weed collection Im working on today LOL thanks

perilla grows behind my house and I saw a bunch of it while hunting today. Doesn't seem to be invasive, grows in the same spot each year though. Smells kind of good too
