Yep its a tack driver !!! took it this weekend to the lease and sighted it in and was blowing small coke bottles away dead center at about 50yards. I know that is not a long way but the gun felt good except for the trigger...

You can get a Timney trigger to replace the original non adjustable trigger.

Timmney makes some good stuff, considering accuracy for the price of the gun then add $100ish for the Timmney should make a cheap tack driver.
win/win.

I bought that exact gun for that exact purpose and with a 45 grain VMax it is scary accurate and FAST. I dont have a problem with mine. It is not a custom rig therefore I didnt expect it to have a custom trigger when I got it. Just shoot it and it will bring a smile to your face. Did I mention it was FAST. Speed kills.

I gave one a good look today, only $299, you cant buy a used gun for that kind of cash, may have to try me one.

They are scary accurate in any caliber but the trigger does blow. You can replace it with savages top of the line trigger i know because my buddy got one in 7/08 and replaced the trigger.

I have the Savage Edge, same gun but Savage had to change name due to lawsuit, in 30-06 it is my deer gun though. I can shoot 1/2 inch group at 100 yards with the awful trigger. I am going to keep this gun so I will be purchasing the Timney trigger soon.

I have Savage Axis rifles in 223, 25-06, and 30-06. They all shoot tight groops that are comparable to my A-bolt. There is a spring mod that lowers the pull considerably. Google the subject for more info. As an alternative, RifleBasix makes an adjustable drop-in trigger. NOTE: it is not advised to lower the trigger pull below 3 lb if the rifle will be used while stalking.
