Does anyone have any experience with the Barnett crossbows? How do they shoot? Speed? Noise level? Quality?

This year I am thinking about buying a crossbow to see how I will like it. I know that Excalibur and Ten Point are two of the top of the line bows, but I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money at this point even though I have not ruled them out just yet.

I know that you get what you pay for, but the Revolution and Quad 400 supposedly shoot fairly well at pretty reasonable price. They look to me to be a fairly good starter bow. I know that you get what you pay for, but at the same time, I want to make sure that I will actually hunt with the crosbow vs. the regular bow and see what other models will come out in the next few years with the ever increasing market before I go out and spend the $750+ on a top of the line.

Basically, any pros and cons that you can give me about the Barnetts would be greatly appreciated.

I am curious to see what folks say also. I looked at a Barnett Panzer V package at Walmart yesterday for my wife. Looked nice, felt good, red dot scope, arrows and quiver - $157

Wondered if that would work well for her.

I don't like bashing anyones product but Barnett has serious quality issues. I have probably set up around thirty over the last seven years. I have never had one, not even one, that I would go so far to say was a decent setup. One of the main flaws was the plate that held the scope mount. It is extremely thin metal and threaded with coarse screws. Most of the ones that I have dealt with have ended up shaking loose and throwing the scope and mount onto the floor. There may be customers who are happy with their Barnetts out there, but I don't know any. I would definatly look at the Ten Point crossbow line. My favorite is the TL-4 (although I think they might be discontinuing it). You can pick one up for closer to $500 depending on how you want it set up.

I have shot a crossbow on a few ocassions. I have shot a PSE and a Horton.. I like the Horton better. It was the Yukon XL and seemed very solid.. On the PSE, I did not like the back sights and the elevation knob was sub par.. I wanna say Wal Mart sold the Horton Yukon XL last year.. 150lb draw and had plenty of speed.

TN Larry, I own a barnett wildcat c5. This is a very economical bow and works excellent. In all I have close to $500 in mine. Thant includes case, broadheads, arrows, and cocking rope. I killed four deer with mine last year and I have never killed more than two in a season before last year. I have a friend that uses the pricier excalibur and he likes his well, but his does not fit in a solid case and it is harder to pull back. (especially in a tree stand) My bow does not hold up as good as some at long range, but where I hunt I seldom get a shot over 20 yards. It drops about four inches at 30 yards and about 7 at 35 yards, so regardless of what kind you decide on a rangefinder is a great idea. I would be glad to help you any way I can-just p.m. me if you have any questions.

I have a Barnett WildCat and like it just fine. I was in a similar situation to yours. I spent under 300 for bow, red dot scope, quiver, and 4 practice arrows. The scope mount does leave a lot to be desired, but works. When it wears out I'll buy a more top of the line bow, but this will be my second year with it and have no problems.

I have the Quad 400, and so far, am very, very impressed.
Screaming fast.
Not as loud as I thought it would be, and i haven't even put the Sims Vibration stuff on it yet.
As soon as I get the cocking rope and bag target, I'll be shooting it daily.
It buries the bolts so deep in my foam target, I'm afraid I'm gonna get a hernia pulling the things out, and I use an arrow gripper thingy.
I mean even at 40 yards, it puts them in deeper than my 70# compound did at 10 or even 20yds!!!

I had a Quad 400 blow up on me, not fun. The thing had about a 12-15 lb trigger pull and would not group under 3" at 20 yds. B-nett was shut down this spring for either bankruptcy or reorganization. They are the most problematic xbow on the market.
