Anybody putting in a late garden? I'm thinking about it since I didn't do one this spring, but I'm almost positive it may be all for nothing with the way the heat and lack of rain has been so far.

I also plan to put out some green beans since my earlier plantings cooked in the excessive heat.

I just got mine planted a few weeks ago. Tomatoes, Bell peppers, Jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, okra , watermelon, cantaloupe. I figure better late than never. What else will do well planted this late? what about purple hull peas, or green beans?

I'll probably have a late garden as soon as I harvest everything that is in the garden now.
Probably a little to early to put out a "late" garden though.
In my neck of the woods a late garden is considered as anything that will grow in cooler temperatures. A good rule of thumb would be whatever grows well early will grow well late. Peas, onions, lettuce, greens, turnips, etc.

I plant summer crops all the way through the middle of August here. The only reason I stop then is because I pack up and leave for MZ season.

Even with your earlier frost date I would say you could plant up until about the same time.

Well I went to the Co-op yesterday after work and got some pickling cuc's and bush bean seeds, also brought 3 tomatoes and 3 banana pepper plants home for under $4. The seeds were half price and the plants were free!! Can't beat that. I got up this morning and tilled my rows and got the seeds and plants in the ground, now I just need some rain.

Garden has been slow and the heat has stopped evrything early.
Beans put out the first couple weeks and now they flower but do not produce.
Corn took a beating - lucky if I got 20 full ears out of 150 stalks most of it was mini corn.
Potatoes did real good and tomatoes weren't too bad but Ive seen better.
I might try a late season garden since Im about to till this one under.
