If I'm not mistaken it's based on the 404 Jeffreys same as the Remington Ultra Mag family.
After a little more reading I see that it has a larger case head than the 404 Jeffreys and is a proprietary brass manufactured by Lazzeroni just for that line of cartridges. It's a whopper.

It definatly aint a 8mm mag because lazeroni doesnt use belted cases in their ammo.

According to what I found as mr. big said it's loosely based on the 416 Rigby. Evidently there are some changes in the mfg. process where it is not really made from the Rigby, but is based on it. It's confusing reading and hard to find much about it.

I think they started with the Rigby case and thickened the web area to handle higher pressure,,you cant use Rigby brass but the outside measurements are near identical at the base and improved at the shoulder.
