there has been a lone hen hanging around the neighbors' and passing through our yard lately. Before and during turkey season, there was a hot gobbler strutting his tail off and a few hens in the area too. It doesn't seem this one hen was bred though... wouldn't she be towing poults with her? She has been walking around too much to be sitting on a nest it seems. Wonder why one didn't get bred when there was a gobbler around for a good while during breeding season. She's a full sized hen, just doesn't have any kids...

could be numerous things. predators got the eggs/poults?

I guess that is possible, didn't think of that. Never see many turkeys around here though, but I do remember seeing 2 hens with poults here a year or two ago.
