i have one of the original deer cams
can the sensor in it be used to trigger
a digital cam ?

Unfortunately, no. That's a question that gets asked a lot. Digital cameras have to be "refreshed" or turned on periodically whereas 35mm cams don't have to be. The homebrew control boards do this. About the only thing you can salvage out of that camera is the case. Sorry.
