It is going to make all the teams more competitive not just the teams with the biggest bank accounts. It will even make the little teams more likely to win on occasion. And for all you who say it's too much like IROC racing not even close.
IROC cars were all the same model and set up exactly the same way. IROC was all about the driver and not the car.If you look at the rules for the COT there are 100's of different ways to set up the car. JUST DON'T TOUCH THE BODIES. The COT cars all run different brands of engines :IE Chevy,Ford,Dodge and Toyota. The fact that the cars look so similar has very little to do with NASCAR and more to do with wind tunnel testing. The reason they look so much alike is due to the fact that thats the way the manufacturers want them to look cause it works. NASCAR has very little to do with the way the noses are shaped. The air dam is another story they all have to be the same.

I get so tired of watching the same 12 drivers battle it out for the win every week. And hopefully the COT will fix that. It's going to take some time and there are still some bugs, but they'll fix it.

I will also allow teams to use fewer cars through the course of the season. It's all about saving the teams money, and allowing them all to be competitive.

Now if they can just shyt can this dammn top 35 rule.

I could agree with what you said about helping out the smaller teams. However, I don't think it will save them any money at all. They will do just like they did when NASCAR went to the one engine rule. They will just spend it somewhere else.

And I know we don't live in a perfect world. I was listening to NASCARS head of competition on SIRIUS the other day and that is the gist of what he's was saying. Right now alot of the teams are using up to 15 to 20 cars a year. They HOPE the COT will cut that down to 1/2 dozen or so.

What ever happened to stock car racing ? Wouldn't it be neat if they actually raced stock cars with modified engines ? \:\) Having identical cars with different engines has taken brand identity and replaced it with cookie cutter cars .
I think there should be variations between the brands .

I do remember when they had to build so many cars before they could race them.

I don't think Toyota builds Camry v8...

I like the idea of leveling the playing field , but I don't want it to turn into IROC where every car is identical without any variation between car makes .

The main reason all the cars look the same now is because thats the way the manufacteres want them to look. Thay have found a design in wind tunnel testing that works and they hava all copied it, NASCAR had nothing to do with it.

The cool thing about the COT it not anywhere near the same as IROC. A lot of tweeking is allowed on the COT. The IROC cars were unloaded and raced they were all the same car and set up exactly the same.

NASCAR had tinkered with the manufacturers specs so much that the cars that are being phased out were almost identical. Yes, Cup racing will be much more similar to IROC, but this is a good move for all involved.

There are no car dealers carrying 2-door, V8, rear wheel drive cars that can be suitably modified for NASCAR competition.

I do not want to see a 4-door Taurus or Camry with the V6 engine mounted sideways running at Talladega.

At every race next year, the only critical difference in the cars will be the engines. The garages are already using the same transmission, rear ends, etc.

If I own a Cup car and have no factory support, I can try an engine from every manufacturer. Whichever brand of engine my guys are getting the horsepower out of is the car I run that week. All I have to do is change noses and decals. Definitely a plus for the "little" guys like Morgan Shepherd.

From the entry-level standpoint, I think Cup racing just became more affordable.

I like it.

It all about saving the yeams money. They said most of the teams in todays race are running the same COT car they ran at the begining of the season. That's cost effective boys.
