That's pretty sad there, but then stuff happens... there are more hens and chicks out there. I'd still be feeling pretty terrible if it were me driving the bush hog.

Yeah, I always feel a little bad when an accident like that happens.... It is called having a heart. By the way, that is a beautiful spot.

I hate to hear and see that, but it happens, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing Plinker.

Yep, I try to watch so close, but the Mower I am using cuts a 14 foot wide path. I hated it when I saw it, but that is just the nature of farming.
I am sure a couple of crows had a feast... and were "thankful" for their turkey dinner.

I have a friend that says he gets them every year mowing hay. Its just a down side of farming. He says he has even run over fawns mowing hay.

She made it through all the coons ...all the skunks... coyotes..but some guy on a tractor wipes the whole clan out. Just kidding plinker ..they are collateral damage and figured in the equation...If all lived we would have turkeys on our front porch. But one interesting note ..if the hen had survived ..she could have laid another clutch without being bred.

Intrusion on mother nature ends up with diced critters...I killed 4 baby rabbits the other day under the same circumstances...next year I'm going to hold off or go early on cutting.
