I pretty much stopped 2 weeks ago after calling in 14 longbeards and numerous jakes for the year for myself and various folks. With 7 in the freezer for the family we just didnt need any more turkey. Ive been out doing plots though early of a morning and still hearing some gobbling.

I am going with a friend Saturday morning here in SW TN in an attempt to help him get his first turkey. I am definitely following my heart and not my mind considering we have not heard a single gobble since April 24.

Yep, missing 5 during the first two weeks put me behind. Yes they are still gobbling, and still terribly henned up. Going to be dang tough through the end around here.

If my memory serves me correct, I recall you stating earlier in the year ( or possibly last year) that y'all didn't have the turkeys these days like y'all once did. Am I mistaken?
We still dont have near the turkeys we used too in alot of areas. Its down right pitiful in areas it used to be great. For instance, I only got on 1 gobbler on a 1300 acre tract Ive hunted since I could walk, we used to see and hear 10 or more there every day back years ago.They have moved into alot of new areas though where there didnt used to be turkeys just a couple years ago, lots of the newer populations are in ag areas out of the mountains. It just seemed like nearly every day I hunted there would be a cooperative bird around.

Headed out this afternoon to hunt several days at our lease in Virginia. Has not been hunted one day this year.

I am still going, have been working this consistently roosted bird for days.. but cant seem to get him in front of the gun
