I was hunting with a buddy several years back and I was overlooking a clear cut and he was about 10 or 15 yards behind me when all of a sudden I heard him yell. I turned to see a bobcat getting the heck out of dodge. It came in crouched down and when it started to pounce he jumped up hollering. Where it's paws kicked the pine needles up while turning to run was only a foot or so from his boot. He was shaking like a leaf.

I had a friend get bit 10 years ago. He was sitting against a big tree and the coyote came from behind around the tree and got him on the arm. He had to get rabies shots.
Still jumpy to this day when I am out. I had a coyote at 5 yards this year in a creek below me. I swung my gun to shoot but could not get on him before he got away.

Its hard to believe that a coyote would get close enough to bite and not smell a human, especially a human covered in bug spray for turkey season. Coyotes almost always pick me off and spook, whether I am in a tree or 400 yards away in a field.
