I knew where the area where he was roosting.. I got this from my past Saturday morning experience.... I developed a grand strategy of trying to catch him back on the same ridge this evening just before sunset... I took one mouthcall & the temptation got the best of me... I made a few soft yelps about 30 minutes before dark & guess who shows up.... The problem is that he came from the wrong direction & walked 10 yards straight behind me... I was in lockdown mode & couldnt move a muscle..... He stopped just behind me & didnt move for what seemed like hours.... I finally gave in & let out a real soft pluck and tilted my head a little to see exactly what the situation was.... He looked me straight in the eyes at 10 yards & started this whole flapping & putting thing and there he was...GONE!
Now, what do I do? Is he too educated to kill? Will he be back? i think I will let it rest til Saturday morning & try to move in on the roosting area again..... Oh, & the only thing I'm taking is my gun & water..... The calls will remain in my truck....
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Hard to say. I called one in weekend before last and spooked him before I could get a shot. Then this past weekend, I got on him again with my fiance and called him right to the gun for her. I just changed calls and set up. And this was an old turkey with 1.5 inch spurs in a hard hunted property so it wasnt like he was dumb, just wanting some hen bad LOL

Never know for sure what these dang birds will do but one thing is for sure, you won't know if you don't try. Good luck!

If you don't bring a call and you get close enough to his roost then I don't see anything wrong unless he flies down out of range or something... whatever you do, best of luck.
