This season has been incredibly frustrating for me. I have been on birds all season but they either hang up just out of range, follow hens away, you name it. I could've killed a bunch of jakes, but longbeards eluded me. Today Grizzly Johnson and I hunted all day on public land without hearing a peep. At 2:15 we set up in an area with a ton of sign. At 2:45 I fed this double bearded gobbler a load of Hevi 6's. We didn't shoot him off the roost and we didn't bushwack him. We killed him the old fashioned way: Being persistant and calling him in to the gun. One shot, one kill. Thanks to Grizzly for teaming up for a tough but rewarding day in the woods. Tomorrow we will be back after them.
21 pounds 8 ounces, 10 and 5/8 and 2 and 5/8 inch beards, 1 and 1/16 spurs.

Yes sir Griz. I wish REN could've stayed around too. I sure enjoy hunting with him and you. Now let's go get that double we been talking about.
