I came across this video that was posted on another forum that I visit regularly. The Ferguson rifle gets its name after Gen. Patrick Ferguson. You history buffs might recall him as the British general killed at the famous Battle of Kings Mountain by a bunch of John Sevier's "overmountain men".

The rifle is obviously of flintlock ignition. You might think it would be neat to use in Tennessee's ML season, but think again because it would be illegal.....it's a breech loader.

Unless they looked really close, 99% of people would never know the difference unless they saw you load it...

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that when Ferguson demonstrated that rifle, he fired 6 shots in a minute at 200 yards, with 5 hits. Good thing George III was too much of a tightwad to put it into mass production or we'd be speaking British...

Did you see that at ALR?

Yep....I saw it on the ALR. Besides Tndeer, it's one of my favorite sites.

I always think of this rifle when discussions come up about firearms allowed in the Tennessee ML season. Sometimes I find it strange that the totally modern smokeless Savage is ok but a black powder flintlock couldn't be used.....but, of course the Savage, according to our law, fits the description and the Ferguson does not.

....no problem though. \:D

Btw, Louis Lamour wrote a great book called The Ferguson Rifle with the story line around this rifle. If you like his stuff check it out .
