My son and his best friend were searching a spot where he was stationed in the CG by yorktown last week, they were scanning a steep bluff and found this huge 50 lb dalgrehn naval round.... pretty cool it was still live as well, had to take it to a expert in Winchester Va to have it disarmed.

I remember reading an article maybe 4 years ago claiming that the latest cival war death had recently occurred...as a result of someone finding one of those and trying to disarm it himself.

yes they are full of gunpowder, I thought it was a mixture of gunpowder and steel shot, but the guy from rebel relics said this type is just pure gunpowder.

That is funny. It just made me remember i got a old 17 lb cannon ball years ago at a place where i was not supposed to be. (I did not know that at the time)It is in my garage somewhere and will post some pics if you all would like to see it. It was never drilled. I was told it was for damage landing on the ground and bouncing. I don't remember exactly. That is a cool find my friend.
