I like the taste better than broccoli. Can I grow it? Where can I find the seeds? Thanks.

I actually grew broccoli this year (and it's still growing because I covered my fall greens with a clear tarp). I must say that it is much better than sto-bought, and I plan to grow it again.
I just still like broccolini a little better. It may be more about texture than taste, but I really want to try to grow some. It's also a little sweeter even than home grown broccoli.

I dun figgered it out.
By the lack of response, I can assume there are a bunch of folks who haven't tasted broccolini. Give it a shot - I think you'll enjoy it.

Actually, there is no seed for broccoli. A Japanese company made a hybrid seed of broccoli and a type of kale they dubbed "broccolini," and they don't sell to the public. There are some other hybrids that other companies sell that are supposedly similar. But Johnny's doesn't sell broccolini seeds (I talked to them on the phone) - nobody does. I'm going to try one of the other hybrids to see how it tastes.

You are correct and I was wrong. I was thinking of broccoli raab. Doesn't look like you'll have much luck with broccolini at this time from my googlin'. Glad someone didn't control the market on every other vegetable with good taste.

Try it sometime if you see it in the store. They sell it at Harris Teeter, Kroger and Publix in Nashville - don't know where else.

Yup, it's hard to believe they trademarked a vegetable, though. It is genius to think they have a monopoly on a widespread vegetable. And nobody but subsidiaries of their company is allowed to grow it! It definitely sux, but it's genius.

They sell it in the big grocery stores in Nashville but I'm not sure where else. It's just better than broccoli IMO - In fact, I'm not even a big fan of regular broccoli. This stuff is softer and sweeter. Give it a shot if you see it.
