the significant difference one is one is tried and true and i am afraid the wsm once the new wears off will be one of those that ammo starts fading away they will both blow a hole through a deer that a softball will fit in if there is any real difference in perceived recoil it is minor
got both and i like both of them my 300 wsm likes bullets 180grn or lower i load 168grn noslers in it and the 300 win likes 180grn and higher. the 300 win seems to kick a little more both are tack drivers with the right load

I had a Winchester Model 70 classic stainless that I really liked but had a 30-06 already that my parents bought when I was younger so I sold it. Didn't see the need for 2 at the time. I really liked it though. Never owned a 300 mag for comparison.
