yikes, sounds like i need to keep looking for a decent priced .270, I though that the 770 would fit the bill since my 700 has never let me down but I guess I'll keep searching. Thanks for the heads up.

the processor dug a 243 bullet out of one of BOWd's deer. i still don't like the 243 for inexperienced shooters/hunters.

243's are underrated. The 85 grain bthp game king is an awesome bullet for the 243. It is super accurate and deadly on deer. I load this for my son, wife and some older gents at church who are tired of the kick. Call sierra bullets and ask them about the 243! Also the barnes tsx is another deadly shooter without much kick.

Yeah, I haven't put alot of thought into that but I guess I would be a supporter of any caliber that you can shoot groundhogs all the way up to deer with. Seems like a sound investment to me.
