I had that noise problem with my API Grand Slam...it turned out to be mostly from the chain hitting the inside of the stand.
I fixed it by replacing teh chain, straps, and stand with a Summit Viper.
Alot cheaper to pull the chain all the way out to the end before transporting. Then, strap the bent inward chain down along with the stand. This used to drive me crazy too till I figured this out. If you have an old API you want to get rid of with rattling chains, let me know.

Now that season is over, I am going to identify any places my stand clanks together while climbing/ back packing/pulling apart and packing back up.
Clean with rubbing alcohol then spray a thin coat of rubber auto undercoating in those locations.
It worked great on the area where the cable attaches to the stand. Shouldn't add much weight either.

Update.
Rubber undercoating never fully cured. It was dry to the touch but kinda gummy and tar like. Wore most of it off on a 2 day hunt in LA. I think most of it ended up stuck to my hands.
Cant recommend the stuff.

Try the Rubber Spray, it is similar to the rubber you can dip tool handles into. I sprayed an stand with it and it lasted several years.
I think I bought the stuff @ Advanced Auto.

You have a brand name? I just used the cheap spray on rubber undercoating. It might cure up ok if applied in hot weather.
Can said apply above 70 degrees. It was 68 the day I sprayed it then took it into the garage for the next several days.
Might be user error.

Summit climbers are nice but when you get older like me, nothing compares to a hang on. I love my Millennium Hang On. You can buy several hanging blocks and then have several stand locations while only using one stand.

I've often wondered about that Rhino liner or something like it I've seen it for sale by the quart and gallon and seems to me it would stand the test once it's cured.
A side note a guy I know sprays great stuff in all the hollow tubing of his stands to deadin the sound that they make. It works pretty well.

Been doing the great stuff trick for years. Works great.
Just make sure you don't fill a tube where you insert a cable or have moveable parts!
