Personally dont care for either, but if I had to choose it would be .308, I dont like any less than .30 caliber but thats just me, there is no right or wrong on this one. But if im buying, its 30-06 all the way.

I have had multiple 270s and 308s. The 270 definitely has more recoil, synthetic or wood. There's a reason more youth rifles are made in 308 than in 270. I must say I'm a huge fan of both.

Both .270/.308 are great for whitetail. I've killed deer with both, the deer or I couldn't tell the difference. I have noticed the deer fall quicker with the .308.
I'll 2nd that.

I love the 270 but you can stockpile nato rounds for the 308 thats a plus
Plus one here for the exact same reason.

I don't have any experience with a .270, but my buddy loves his. I picked up a .308 due to wanting to have an AR-10 eventually. I bought a Savage Model 10 LE. It's the heavy bull barrel, synthetic stock, nice butt pad. With a Nikon Pro-Staff and Hornady 168 Gr A-Max, it'll put 4 shots in 3/4" at 100yds from an unsteady rest of just a front bipod.
