I've got a couple of the basic ($50 no frills) ladder stands that don't have shooting rails. I was looking through a Sportsmans Guide catalog and saw where they sell the flip-up shooting rails that mount to the tree for $30 or so. Got me to wondering - has anyone ever made a tree-mounted shooting rail? I'd want one that will still flip-up for archery. I know, I could drop $30 and be done with it, but I was curious as to whether anyone had made their own before and how they did it / how it worked out.

You can take eletrical condut, and bend 1 long piece in a "U" shape and then take a hammer and beat the ends flat and drill hols through them and your stand and bolt them on your stand. It won't flip up out of the way,but they work pretty good.

Tree mounted, that would be interesting....
Screw in tree steps to mount/screw it to the tree and then two drop down legs that rest on your stand to keep it at a height you need.
