Yikes! Glad you're ok, Wildcat. Lots of people--myself included-- underestimate this heat. I had a bout with I when I worked a 4th of July event. A bad headache, hot, with slight nausea...I don'nt know for sure, but I think I got either a good case of heat exhaustion, or a touch of heat stroke. Either way, I can't handle the heat like I used to.

Take care of yourself, Wildcat. This heat will wear you out in a hurry!

Definitely need to take it easy. And watch yourself tomorrow. The one time I got overheated, the second day was much worse. Headache, nausea, throwing up. It took me several days to start feeling better.

Yeah be carefull from now on. It can sneek up on you before you know it. Went down in the mill once, woke up covered with ice packs in the first aid center. Last thing I remembered was the gal who was my helper looking at me and saying you don't look good, kinda grey and not sweating. We were working under a furnance on a breakdown that heated strip steel to 1600 deg.

Now I can't do heat very well still and that was 11 years ago.

IF you are hydrated, you will sweat and urinate often.

As for water and gatorade, it is 2 parts water to 1 part gatorade.

Get hydrated before you go out and stay hydrated while out and continue when done.

Take minimum of 15 minute breaks every 30-45 minutes or so.

Glad you are ok, but be sure or go ahead and make the trip to ER and get the IV's.

My wife spent 4 hours in the ER 10 days ago due to this and not staying hydrated.

Yeah, you cant drink enough fluids to stay hydrated in this weather. That's great that you help your neighbor like that. If only more people were like you. Stay cool!

Sure right about being more susceptible in the future. I was pretty young down in Florida working on my roof and got way too hot. Came down off the ladder and nearly went to the ground. No where near as bad as what you experienced but I have never been able to take as much heat since that day.

hydration, hydration, hydration....

Funny how dehydration slips up on you without you really knowing it. I've experienced it a couple of times in the past few years. But now I do the right things and stay hydrated. Once you've experienced the effects, you should stay hyper-aware of them. Don't even plan an outside venture without the very FIRST thing being your electrolyte and hydration plan.

Like the others are saying...you gotta be peeing or something's not right. And that urine needs to be semi-clear. If it's darker colored, you're either becoming or already are dehydrated.

Hydration PRIOR to being in the heat is extremely important! Start pouring in water etc an hour or two before and it will make a big difference!

Hope you are ok today. If not, get to a Dr.
