Being that I have two rentals I can imagine now that the government will pass new "renting" regs that makes it impossible to be a landlord and makes it where the government rentals win!

this just sucks!

George and Weezie will be moving into the house behind you, the one with the tall weeds all summer.

All of their expenses will be paid, they'll wave at you as you drive to work.

Obama didn't start welfare or public housing.....

Once the government set it in motion some 40 plus years ago, with basically no regulations or requirements, they opened up an unshutable box.....

The USA's desire to appear to be this generous savior of all will be it's downfall.....

Interesting. It was my understanding that it was ILLEGAL for banks and the gubment to do that exact thing.

Not that the Socialist in chief cares about what our laws are....

Imagine how wonderful MORE gubment housing will be ! And not just in the innercity Ghettos.
You can have a little bit of Ghetto in your neighborhood too!
(end sarcasm )

Government run housing is one of the most complete and colossal failures of all time.

Taking that failed program and transplanting that property value killer across all neighborhoods would be like deliberately spreading cancer throughout a persons body.

Not only will turning foreclosed properties into government run slums NOT prop up property values in the long run, It wont work in the short run. In fact, it would probably bring the Real Estate market to a screeching halt and cause another 15-40% collapse in prices overnight!

Who in their right mind would pay retail prices for a home in an unknown neighborhood (of any price range) that MIGHT have several gubment ghetto properties in it?

Anybody who has spent 30 minutes discussing this idea with real estate investors, buyers, and land lords, would KNOW that it would be dropping a nuke on the struggling Real Estate Market.

SO... what are they REALLY doing? This is a blatant government take over of private property rights and an effort to socialize housing in America. Its another stealth bomb designed to further implode our economy. Just like the Community Reinvestment Act caused the bubble and implosion of the Real estate Market.

It SOUNDS good on the surface, but how would YOU like to have 15% of the houses in YOUR neighborhood turned into slum/government housing projects with professional tenants who cant pay rent and won't maintain the property?

That will help the housing market, take a decent house and let someone trash it while the tax payers pay for their living and up keep! Next move will be cash for clunkers in the housing market.
