I wound up buying a PN60 primarily for a couple reasons, the mapping downloads and the more capabilities from the software. I can get for $60. a year, including high definition satellite imagery and all US topos at no additional cost, that is ALL of the 7.5 min USGS topos for the entire US I wish to download. These maps also show BLM, National Forest, public/private land ownership, even State Trust Land, don't believe it distinquishes between DOW leased State Trust lands. It does appear that the software (NOT the software on the PN60) but on the DVD (NAP 9.0) will take some time to master but I'm only going to bite off one chunk at a time. The PN60 is NOT that difficult to operate, it is "complex" because of the many features, at least to me NOT fm it being so difficult in each feature. Last week end I was up at cabin and walked approx 1/8 of a mile down a county road to an intersection of another road. The PN60 showed(tracked) me as I was moving down the road, showed road names and even showed exactly when I got into the intersection. I have all ready installed maps from the DVDs, in a couple days I will try downloading maps from the free $40. certificate that came with the unit. BTW, I have a grandaughter who works at USGS who could help me out on some of this,I'm sure a big help. Thanks Ray

I got the PN40 2 and a half years ago when they first came out and have been very pleased. I've dropped it in puddles and had it in extreme temperatures and it has never let me down. Also seems to do well under canopy which was very important to me. I think my software is version 7 and it is very useful but a not exactly straight forward to figure out.

I have had the PN20 for about 3 years now and absolutely love it. It is a life saver.
