Please pay your $5 if you make a sale, the friendships you make on here lead to trust and this is the best place for me to sale stuff because ppl know me and know that I will stand up for what I have to sale. Maybe the same with you but without the classifieds we dont have that you know you have missed it and have stuff you would like to get rid of.

The $5 is paid to the owners of the site.
It goes to the upkeep of the site (to keep the lights on around here).
Pretty much it.
Yeah in the kumbaya perfect world everything would be free but sadly owning a website comes with bills that have to be paid and this is one way in order to raise enough money to pay those bills.
Hope that is explanation enough.

I agree, Brandon. I'm among the users who was new here right before the classifieds disappeared the last time. Like many other users, I had no clue about the $5 rule. I guess I thought the costs of the forum ran off of Ruger's good looks - I never really gave it any thought. Of course, when it was shut down and the reason made public, I felt horrible and donated to the site asap. Glad to see that they are back and the donate button is clearly made available.

There was one thing discussed earlier this week in a meeting with the owners that I think was overlooked at some point.
We have had basically a "generation change" on tndeer.
Back in "the day" it was just known that a $5 donation was requested when you made a sale in the classified forum.
The request was there from the very first day the forum was created.
Through updates and "advances" of the site the notice that asked for the donation was removed and nobody really noticed.
Then the next generation of members came on board and nobody paid. This was not due to the members trying to get something for free but rather just because they didn't know.
So anyway, the classified forum is back and hopefully all is well again in the world.

This info works for me. I dont have a problem with paying $5. I totally understand that it takes money to run this site.
