I have a person who is giving me 9 females and 13 male quail. Not sure as of yet as to what breed, but I believe they are bobwhites. I hope to be able to use this as a students SAE project for Ag. Ed. and FFA. Does anyone have any knowledge or advise they can give me? I've always raised chickens and ducks, but have been told there is a large difference between them and quail.
Thanks again.

Talk to some breeders. They will give you a wealth of info on diet, enclosures, etc...

If there bobwhites they mature ant 5 months and begin to lay. They lay a small white egg. will they set? that depends if you build a pen and make it look kinda like there natural habitat they should set but I would put no more than 1 hen and 1 rooster per pen. because lots of quail in the pen would costantly disturb the nest When I raised quail I put them in a incubator and hatched them myself then put them in a brooder for four weeks and make sure it has food and wateres that are built for quail because quail are very small and feed them 28% gamebird starter and with babies make sure they have lots of heat because they chill very easily. There is also a breed common around her called courtnix quail. They grow really fast and beginn laying at 6weeks basicaly same care guidlines for them to.

I raised some Bobwhite Quail in the late 70's.
The birds would lay fertile eggs but would not sit on them. I had to collect the eggs and put them in an incubator but had good success doing so.
Timberjack86 gave some good advice.
