I got one for Xmas last year but only used it on the tailend of gun season.I actually wanted it for some long range target shooting but I think I may use it some in the archery season.Anyone else use one in archery season?

Yep. One of the first things I do is to range trees, stumps etc so if when a deer come thru I know the range

Same here. I have a hard time judging distance so I range a perimeter when I get settled.

I also try and guess the range first and then use the range finder to how close I got to the actual yardage. It makes me alot better at judging yardage if I don't have time to range a deer that I may see going to and from the stand.

No, I only shoot 1 pin and Im fairly accurate judging distance. Wores case if the shot is further than I think my shot misses low.

I use it to sight-in scopes, and then during archery season to range different trees.
Most useful piece of hunting equipment I have.

Next to your bow and arrows it is the most important part of archery equipment in my opinion. I use it to range 360 degrees around me as soon as I get in the tree so there is no doubt when the moment of truth occurs.

I use an older one one during bow season. Just for confidence. I shoot alot during summer months but I feel more confidence when I set my markers and i have been luckey when i have never lost a deer. Do Do happens....

I use one religously from my stand when bowhunting! I pre range all around me so I know general distances. I rarely ever use one while gun hunting, as Im rarely anywhere open enough to have long shots, especially anything over 200 yards. Out West they are a huge help as well.

I'd like to have one so I wouldn't have to "step off" my distances in new locations.

Its a necessity if you're hunting with a bow or muzzleloader. As for rifle season I'll take it if I'm hunting somewhere new but I have pretty much memorized how far everything is from my rifle stand. The new Redfield rangefinders are affordable. I looked at one a little while back at Bass Pro in Nashville and I liked it. Mine is a Bushnell Legend 1200. Wasn't really worth what I paid for it but I like it. Has a few cool bells and whistles some of the other ones don't have.

I see no use for it for gun hunting (I havent even use it when I've been out west). But for bowhunting, it is a MUST! I use that thing as soon as I get in the stand and when deer come in. Like others have said, 5 yards can make the difference in in a dead deer or not

Hardly ever. I use one at the range when sighting in rifles, MZers etc or when putting out my archery targets for practice sessions. My bow shoots flat enough that I only use one pin out to 35 yards (my self imposed limit) so no need there. I hardly ever rifle hunt fields so really no use for it there either. It is one of those things that I once toted to/from the deer stand every time, but I now leave it in my truck most of the time.

I have one and carry it with me, but few of my setups allow more than a 25 yard shot. I do use it sometimes though and, when I need it, it is nice to have.
