Going to float the Current River in Van Buren, Mo this weekend. That water is always cold and will feel good after this weeks heat. We always have a big time, about 12 of us this time going. Anybody else ever been ???????

Never floated the Current but I turkey hunted around it and Eminence, MO this past spring. All of the rivers up there were at record stages at the time (last week of April) so they looked nothing like they do now.

Be Careful!
A Dyersburg man died on Saturday after drowning at a popular river destination in Missouri.
Eugene Smith, 26, was pronounced dead by the Carter County, Mo. coroner at 4:26 p.m. after divers found his body in a spot on the Current River.

I love going to the Current River but it seems like there is always a death every year or 2 there.

Thanks Dodge Man, sad about the guy. Should have known better than try to swim across the river without a vest on.

We don't ever wear life vests and I can't remember ever seeing anybody use one on the river.

We don't wear them either, but we aren't going to try to swim across the river, especially if there is any adult beverages consumed.
