Glad that a Nashville writer is finally calling these people out. These faux country, suburban cowboys in their $700 genes and flossy hair cut, name checking every country term in dictionary are wearing me out.

Nothing more than Classic rock power ballads.

" I’d rather be hit by a can of your favorite domestic beer than hear you name-check that beer one more time when you’re singing about the party in the woods that you know darn well the three people who wrote the song in a metropolitan Nashville office absolutely, for sure, did not attend."

Love that quote from the article. \:D

Anyway, you and I, if our necks are red, it’s not from plowing the fields, it’s from leaning out the driver’s window on a hot summer day to place our onion ring order at the Sonic.

That just cracks me up. When I was reading the article there was a song about a dirtroad on the radio. Too dern funny.

And that's different how? "Country music" - at least since the 70s - has ALWAYS been centered around a few songwriters.

Today's country = 70s pop music.

I like the more rocking country music. But have to agree that its starting to sound a lot alike. Most people that listen nowdays are not cowboys. They are kids growing up in the country or kids who wished they did and these are the things people did growing up.But its nothing new. How many country songs try to get some sence of authenticity by throwing in the names waylon, willie, hank, or george.Heck even George Jones did some name dropping in a song and he is a legend.

Funny article and I like how he calls out the singers / songwriters. But, he talks about the kids down south hanging out in the parking lot at Sonic. Did the kids really stop having field parties? As true as it is that I've never plowed a field and I'm from a place near a big box store, we sure as heck had 4x4s and partied out in the middle of nowhere, not in a dang parking lot.
