It sucks but the products pay the bills. Without them, no show. It is that simple.
Do people really buy the stuff? You betcha dang bippy they do. P.T. Barnum put it best.

So the commercials don't pay the bills? Basically the whole show is a commercial I guess.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. If the sponsors are what puts beans and taters on the table and they want you to mention their product as often as possible then do it. You're basically working for them and they're asking you to do your job by promoting their products.
On a personnal note, I don't care to hear all the marketing during the hunt or after. Before the hunt is fine if telling what all products you'll be using and how you're going to use them. During the hunt I want to hear either silence or talk about the hunt. Then after when there is a downed animal and they're hovering over it with guns and other products laid on top of it making yet another sales pitch don't do anything for me. I'm not bashing or anything. That's just my opinion and yes I know what opinions are like...

Hillbilly, search the web for " The Outdoor Journal TV". Our current project we are working with M2D Living the Dream, Strother Archery, Bruzer Gear, Trophy Blend, TruGlo and DAMAR Custom Camo is Black Bear Pursuit. We don't air until Fall of '12 and then it is on Pursuit.

I think that is a fine opinion. It seems that most of us on here share very similar opinions about the way these shows function. So, the question is, what members of the hunting community are buying whole heartily into the infomercials/hunting TV shows. Everyone on TN Deer Talk always says things like: "Real hunting is not like TV." Anyone who hunts a typical lease, small to medium size private property, or public land immediately scoffs at the way hunting is portrayed in these shows. Does their viewership exclusively consist of high dollar hunters who hunt with outfitters? I ask because the shows tend to portray hunting as a pursuit where one puts on $1,000 worth of clothes, picks up a $1500+ weapon, along with another $1,000 worth of hunting gear, travels to a stand in a $10,000 electric vehicle to pass on a few P&Y class bucks at an outfitter who charges $500-$1000 a day.
Do the members of TN Deer Talk just happen represent a demography of hunters who are opposed to, and/or critical of the way hunting is presented in these shows? Are we the only critics out there? What % of the the hunting community likes/ is enthusiastic about these shows and purchases products/bases their lifestyle around them? Do the makers of hunting show X even watch the other shows on the networks? Obviously there are enough people to support the shows and networks themselves. So, where are these fan boys? Someone stand up and tell us how awesome these shows are, what the critics are missing out on, and why we should watch them.

Poser it is obvious of your agenda, but if you will go to Pursuitnetwork.com, download the Moose media kit listed on the contact page, it contains the info you want as far as demographics.
