It's been along 9 day trip. We took our 12yr old team to Cooperstown New York to play our last games for this season until fall.
After going 6-0 in our pool games we were ranked #2 seed out of 104 teams. Our goal was to make it to the sweet 16 and we would be happy with that. But we ended up going all the way with a 11-0 record to be the champs. And going down in the youth hall of fame.
Our semi final and final games would be our toughest. We play a team for Ca in our semi final game. They had flew in two pitchers too play for them this week. We got a late start and they tied it up with a two run homer in the 3rd inning.. Our boys got settled in and a grand slam later we took the lead. And won with a score of 7-3
In our championship game we faced Team USA out of Florida. This team was the real deal. They also had a paid player who hand been there 4 weeks straight playing for other teams. He took the mound the first inning and was pulled by the second inning.
Everyone there was pulling for us. We had all the umps that were there all week in our section rooting. We were the under dog for sure in this game with the talent Team USA had. A David vs Goliath story in the making. Even though we are a travel team. All of our kids are from our area. Unlike some of the others there who got their ways paid to play.
We faced the 1,000 pound gorilla head on and kicked him in the teeth on won with a 11-9 score.
We took the wind out of their sail when we stole home to tie the game. Their pitcher never seen us coming.
It will go down as one of the biggest upsets in Championship History there. I am proud of all our kids and the way they battled this whole week.

I live in Huntsville, Al and also teach/coach baseball/football at one of the high schools. Congrats to the team, proud of them.
