so are the bear #s high enuf to provide a season at this time? best i can remember they stated "some day" without a time line.i have seen nothing saying there will never be a season for them.
having 1 bear per 10 sq miles & that may be way high woulndnt justify a season i wouldnt think.hawks & owls are protected by federal rules.birds didnt hurt the qail rabbits ect, loss of habitat & over harvest caused the decline in #s.from what i have read DDT caused a major drop in raptor #s .never seen anybody put the blame for them on raptors before, lack of trappers has allowed the pred #s to grow to what it is now. as the property sizes shrink & no tresspassing signs go up its loss of useable habitat that effects everything related to hunting

Years ago TWRA told my buddy he wasn't seeing a cougar in his backyard. He shot it and called them to come by and take a look. They sent an officer out and then all of the TWRA guys in the area came by to have their picture made with it. The pic ran in the newspaper.
Hearing about this sort of thing more and more.

Blackbelt -

Can you send me the pic and/or copy of the newspaper article? I'd be really interested in seeing that.

Shoot me a pm and I'll send you my e-mail address.

Blackbelt or BGG, could you share that article/picture with all of us please? Dogs, bobcats, coyotes are tough on deer. Anywhere. They love to eat fresh bambi. In fact it is often called the need to survive.

EHD takes it's toll on the deer also. I blame it for our deer numbers being down in Eastern Hardeman and Western McNairy Counties.

Please send me a copy also, or a link. If you can't find it, you can PM your buddies last name, the name of the newspaper, and a timeframe within 5 years, and I will find it. I would realy be interested in seeing it.
