What is the range of a Black Bear(Both sow and boar)?

Impossible to say because it all depends on habitat. In great habitat it could be 10 square miles, in poor habitat or in times of mast failures it could be 100 square miles. Also, young males have been known to go on tremendously long jaunts. A young male four years ago came off the Plateau and walked in a counterclockwise circle around Nashville and headed back to the Plateau. We tracked his progress all summer long. Females tend not to stray too far from their core area, most of the time because they have cubs in tow.

A few years back we had a young boar sighted in our sub-division! He was in the perimiter woods and headed east to west.

they walk the Hatchie River bottom from one end to the other. my step-uncle farmed the bottoms near Vildo during the late 60s, 70s and early 80s and would see one every couple of years.

When we can confirm evidence of them you guys will probably be the first to know, because one of you will probably bring it to us.
Unfortunately, although there have been hundreds of big cat sightings (brown, tan, black, yellow, and even orange with black stripes), no one has produced any hard evidence of them (yet).

I'll try to get one for ya. I'm hunting within 5 miles of my uncle's old place.
