Two things:

1. Just pulled this 8 inch steel rod from my ol' lady's tire:

2. Dear auto technician,
Yes, you air wrench is cool, but I would prefer not get a hernia when manually changing a tire. I was using a heavy lug wrench, not a factory tire iron, and it took everything I had to break the tension on the nuts. Give me a break!

Can't over torquing the lug nuts damage the rotors? If I'm not mistakes, lug nuts should not be buzzed all the way down with a air wrench, but instead, finished off with a torque wrench.

Yes, and they can damage/warp aluminum wheels too. I'm a pain in their butt when I get tires put on because I'm watching to make sure they use a torque wrench.

I'm gonna start doing that, too. If I had to deal with that kind of torque on the side of the interstate with traffic screaming by, it would have sucked! As it was, I was cussin' up a storm and that was in my driveway.

Walmart tightened my F250 wheels so tight, even my 1/2 impact would not remove them

I asked them how the hell would I have changed that if I had problem on the road?

I ended up having to take a 6ft long piece of pipe on a breaker bar to get those lug nuts off.

walmart would not loosen them after I complained. Said it was a "liability" and they were afraid they'd break something. That made no sense, because they were ones that super tightened them to begin with.

I just looked up the proper torque for my ol lady's truck. 100 lbs of torque. I'm guess they had it at 3-4 times that.

They do tend to pour the power on with those impact's. Ran across a young gal sitting on the western Ky parkway not long ago. All by herself dressed to the nines trying to change a flat. Me being me when I passed her thought what if that was one of my daughters stuck out here in nowhere. I did a couple U turns and got back to her vehicle. I had to stand on my fourway lug wrench and jump down on it to break the lugs loose. No way she could have did it. She must have thanked me a dozen times and said at least 50 cars had gone past before I stopped. Glad I got her on her way again.

FYI what makes it so bad when lug nuts are tightened up with an air gun is when they hand start them and then hammer them down with the air gun but never stop. This actually serves as to almost "cross thread" the threads when they bottom out.
They try to, for lack of a better term" jump over each other. (Threads on the bolt and nut)

Nothing wrong with using an air gun if you actually know how to use one.

Also, yes, lug nuts are supposed to be tightened with a torque wrench. \:D
