Ok finally got the insurance to pay out on my roof damage. When I got home I noticed the check is made out to me and my mortgage company. Do I have to send this to my mortgage company so then can endorse it or can I just endorse it and put it in the bank, to pay the roofers when I get it done?

They must sign it. I had to drive 60 miles to a bank branch and they signed it for me.

you will need to send it to your mortgage company.i endorsed my check and they sent me a new check made payable to me and the contractor.

yep. sometimes they put a hold on the money in an account to verify that the work is done before they pay it out.

We called our company and they said mail it in to them unsigned. They signed it and sent it back. We had it back in probably 3 days. It's sitting in our account now until we find someone who really wants to work.

When I had a claim, the check was made out to me and the contractor. Contractor was selected by the insurance company.
