Anyone ever put in for this hunt just found out you half to go through the Tennessee bureau of investigation to get a back ground check which cost $29. Just looking for some info I know they have a earn a buck program.

alot of rules to follow. got to shoot a doe first to get a buck tag

o your not allowed to leave you r stand they take you out there they will pick you up for dinner or that evening not walking past 30 yards of your stand period if you shoot a deer it runs off you wait on them to come trail it past 30 yards very strict, well it was like that 7 years ago I assume it still is

A co-worker and I were thincking of putting in for it as well. How many usually get drawn? Percentage? Would love to hear from more people who have been there before.

A guy I work with hunted it last year and its still the same way. Also ruls like no tobacco, he even said if you pull in the gate with a head light out they would turn you around. you have to shoot your doe first and wait for them to track it and Then after all that you can start hunting for your buck. He said he seen one of the biggest deer of his life and had to watch it walk by because he did not even see a doe that day

I live here near Holston and got to hunt 2 years ago, let me tell you I drew a crappy stand that morning, didnt even see a deer but they put me on them that afternoon. The stands are in some really bad locations, you see alot of big deer, i mean big, 140, 150, 160 deer but the problem is getting a shot at a friggin doe first. My advice is to try for a portable stand site or hope for a filter plant stand. Anyway, the experience is well worth it. It is the only place I ever experienced aggressive rutting. Good luck it is a very hard draw...
