My tv apparently got hit by lightning and took a dump. I'm looking for a new one and would like opinions or reviews to help me in my search. I'm looking for a 46"-55" Plasma, LED or LCD

Got a 50" Samsung Plasma that I can't be happier with. And where ever you go to purchase, barter. I did and got a better deal. .

I have had great success with Samsungs the last five years and would recommend them to my friends and family without hesitation. I have used http://www.cnet.com to do my research for most electronics in the past and I have been very pleased with my TV purchases. I also like to read reviews at http://www.amazon.com as there are typically numerous unbiased consumers who speak from their own experience(s).

And get one of those lightening surge protectors. Don't know if they work or not, but the companies that make them say they will replace your appliances that were plugged into them if they don't protect your stuff from lightening strike related surges.

Make sure to go the extra few bucks and get one that you can hook your cable wire to.
