Going to see an ENT this morning about my vertigo issues.

They have pretty much subsided, but I still want to go see him and talk to him and see what he thinks I should do....

Inquiring minds want to know....

My father-in-law was diagnosed with vertigo. They prescibed vallium but don't remember how he took it.

Gotta be an awful feeling when it attacks you.......Good luck.

My mom had it for years.
She took vallium and something else, think it started with a P but not sure.

She ended up having to have surgery and had the bones in her inner ear removed on one ear.
They had fused together.

That pretty much cured her, but not totally, but the downside was the loss of hearing in the one ear.

Good luck.

Well, here's what he said....

First I told him the history , in detail, of the incident. he asked lots of questions, listened to me with a very high degree of focus, he did some tests on me and came to this conclusion...

I have a viral infection of the inner ear that caused damage to the part of the inner ear responsible for balance. he said that my detailed description was a "classic" case....not much chance of it being anything else...

It's just a virus like any other virus, BUt all it does is attack the inner ear...weird huh??

He called it, Acute Viral Labyrinthitis...

There is no cure or medicine for it, it has to run it's course and the damage done to the inner ear will repair itself with time.... he gave me some exercises to do once a day to help the healing to hurry up.

Basically, the damage causes the brain to not know which side is up, so to speak, for the 5 second period that the vertigo is taking place...

he also told me that vertigo is a syptom, not an illness. If you have vertigo, there is a cause for it and many times if the cause is found it can be treated and often cured.

he told me that I may never have this again and just because you have it once does not mean you will ever have it again or that having it will be easier.....

No matter how frequent or infrequent you have it, you still have a 1 in 150,000 chance.....

talk about playing the lotto...!!!

LOL
