With all the storms and losing power lately. How long will meat and veggies last in a freezer before they start to thaw?

deep freeze chest will go 24+ hours, even better if you keep it full.
upright freezers, you open the door once and you're screwed, maybe 12 hours
my freezers are jam packed with goods and I have a generator for backup. But, I know it's hindsight, if you can 1 gallon frozen jugs, it will help you go longer in times of outages.
but it's relative to the situation. Are we talking about just to point of thaw or are we talking spoilage?

With a deep freezer, we have had success with it being 48-72 hours and everything is still frozen and just starting to thaw.
But the key, as Stovepipe stated, DO NOT OPEN the freezer. You never know how long the power will be out. I wish I had a generator for emergencies
