Different ways, different weapons, different locations on different days.
You guess which method and which weapon on which day.
And that's as specific as I get on a public forum.
I will say Tucker Gunleather has done some excellent custom work for me.
As far as open carry, I'm not a fan. But you do whatever you're comfortable with. Just expect attention.

One of my buddies was talking about some sort of "sticky" holster material that really grabs the gun and keeps it from sliding out. Anyone heard of them? He was saying that they were pretty inexpensive, and a good way to practice various carrying locations.

I have one. They do work well. I sometimes use it in the winter time when wearing a heavy coat and stick a gun in the pocket.

Are you guys talking about sticky on the exterior of the holster to grip the fabric of the pocket or on the inside to grip the actual weapon? I've got one with that tacky surface that grips the pocked and it works extremely well.

I have had a Fobus, a cheap itw and my crossbreed. The fobus is great when I am wearing a big baggy sweatshirt and a coat or hunting on my property. I hated the small ITW. I absolutely love my crossbreed. There are times when it will print but not with most of my clothes. That is not surprising since I am carrying a .40. There's only one pair of jeans that I don't like to wear it with. My next will be a smaller gun that I can thigh carry with.

I use a Fobus too for situations when I OC or during the winter time when I am wearing enough layers to properly conceal it.
Thigh Carry, IMO, sucks, is impractical, and comes across as para military to the eyes of most citizens and is thus alarming. It does look cool, though

Kinda rambling here but this reminds me of that time a friend of mine got a crossdraw "under the arm" type holster and was talking about how awesome it was. He was practicing drawing from it (Magazine out, chamber clear) and I told him to draw as quick as he could and show me what he had. When he reached under his jacket I pressed my arm and chest against his arm and pinned it to his chest. I pointed my finger in his face and said, "Bang."
The point?
There's always a better way to do it and somewhere out there someone has been practicing more than you.

it is really the only practical way to carry when she's wearing a dress.
