Depending on what zone you got drawn for, just go riding an atv around and you should see about 15. These elk and Rocky Mtn elk are two TOTALLY different critters.
Look for reclaimed strip pits. Elk are grazers not browsers. Just like deer hunting, look for food, water and security.

Just kidding. There's plenty of smart guys on here that can help with the elk. I've never been myself, but hopefully next year.

Congrats,
Just please dont do what the guy did last year,the guy who was going to take one with his longbow,but after the second day pulled out his rifle.
I asked him if he had a steak he could spare.Just one.I swear he said he didnt like elk steaks and had it all chopped into burger.
What a waste.
